Summer in Iceland

Icelandic weather is unpredictable, it never gets as cold as other countries located in the Northern Hemisphere such as in Canada.

We cannot really complain, Icelandic weather is quite ‘ average ‘.

Coming from a hot weather country (Mexico) I find comfort in the freshness in the Icelandic air. During the winter months, in the capital area, we do not get to have freezing temperatures for an extended period of time. Which makes it bearable to live in here.

We have good days, and “window weather” days. The expression means that the weather looks good through the window, but once you step out you will realize that it only ‘looked good’ but it is actually windy and/or cold.

‘There’s No Such Thing as Bad Weather, Only Bad Clothes‘ says Linda Åkeson McGurk, and that applies to Iceland, so be prepared to experience any kind of weather year round.

It is always cold and windy. We recommend for dressing up in layers to be able to remove/add items as needed.

During the summer months, do wear a sunscreen protector. People do get sun burned in Iceland.
